Staying Open During the Chill

The Steve Madden Midori boot are my "pushing the envelope" shoe. To me it is a contradiction within itself. It's a suede boot, yet it has an open toe. When I first saw this shoe I thought.. " If it's cold enough for suede, how is it warm enough to have your toes exposed?" I still don't have the answer to this question, but somehow Midori makes it work. lol Not unlike many things in my life, on the outside, it seems like they just don't go, yet I make it work. Midori is the first shoe I brought that doesn't common sense to me LOL but she does make sense on some other level which I cannot articulate at that present moment. (Translation = I just don't have the words for it right now lol)

I guess sometimes that's just what you have to do. On the surface it seems like things just don't make sense, they don't go together, but when you take a chance to do something different, you may come out with something new... something with a lot of character... something beautiful.
Now don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that you will see me strutting around with open toed shoes in 20 degree weather! (my momma didn't raise a silly girl!) But there is a place in my closet for Midori and her unique style, just as there is a place for people and opportunities in my life that don't seemingly fit.

I know it sounds corny, but maybe the open toe reminds me to be open to seeing new things. Keeping myself receptive to possibility of taking a something I like and turning it upside down, into something brand new, faithful and familiar at the same time. Maybe its like relationships. They don't always make sense but they can be quite amazing in their contradictions, quirks and downright wrongness on the outside but maintain a pure quiet character on the inside.

Maybe I am just thinking too deep about an open-toe boot LOL. Who knows?
